Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet Embarks on a Key Diplomatic Visit to France and Switzerland
Phnom Penh: Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Manet, embarked on a significant official visit to the France and Switzerland from January 13 to 19, 2024. The special flight carrying the Cambodian government delegation departed from Phnom Penh International Airport early on Saturday, January 13.
Accompanying the Prime Minister is a high-level delegation from the Royal Government of Cambodia, including Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia, Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Sok Chenda Sophea, and other relevant ministers. The delegation also includes senior officials from various ministries and institutions, as well as representatives from the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce, led by Kith Meng.
During his visit to Paris, France, the Prime Minister will preside over the Europe-Cambodia Business Forum. This collaborative event is organized by the Business Association France (MEDEF) in conjunction with the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce. His itinerary includes meetings with Louise Mushikiwabo, Secretary-General of the International Organization of Francophonie, and executives from several private companies. These companies include Employer Francophone (APF), VINCI, ACCOR, EDF, PuyDuFou, Orange SA, Blue Circle, Alstom, and Total Energies.
Furthermore, a lunch meeting organized by Emmanuel Macron, President of the France, is on the agenda, along with meetings with Gerard Larcher, President of the French Senate, and Yael Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly.
Following the visit to France, the delegation will proceed to Davos, Switzerland, from January 16-17, 2024, to attend the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting. This visit is at the invitation of Professor Klaus Schwab, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum.
During the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2024, Prime Minister Hun Manet and his delegation are scheduled for key meetings, including discussions with Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Ms. Deemah Al Yahya, Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO). A highlight of the visit will be a luncheon hosted by Professor Klaus Schwab and Hilde Schwab, attended by world economic leaders. The Prime Minister is also set to engage in several courtesy meetings with prominent investment companies, including Trip.com, Wilmar International, Visa Group, Grab, Lippo Group, Temasek, and Buhler Group.
Prime Minister Hun Manet and the Cambodian delegation are scheduled to return to the Kingdom of Cambodia on the afternoon of January 19, 2024, with an expected arrival in Phnom Penh on the afternoon of January 20, 2024. This diplomatic visit marks a significant step in strengthening Cambodia's international relationships and economic partnerships.
