Cambodia Exports First 500 Tons of Rice to UAE

PHNOM PENH: Minister of Commerce Cham Nimul celebrated 500 tons of Cambodian rice being exported to the United Arab Emirates by One Road Group on January 12.

 The Minister expressed her congratulations and appreciation to One Road Group for successfully ordering and importing Cambodian rice to the UAE market and for the first shipment of 500 tons worth $54 million US.

She said that rice exports are not only positive for trade relations, but that they also to promote good friendly cooperation between Cambodia, the United Arab Emirates and China, represented by One Road Group.

She said that the export will open new markets for trade and investment cooperation between the three countries and will provide new opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, tourism, culture and many other fields.

She added that the Ministry of Commerce has continued to actively promote and fully support domestic agricultural exports, thereby creating more job opportunities for local farmers and producers, and increasing the international competitiveness of Cambodia's agricultural products. She extended an especially warmly welcome to international partners who do business and invest in Cambodia for the purpose of mutual benefit and prosperity.

She added that the Ministry of Commerce will co-organize a business forum to be held at the end of February 2024 in Abu Dhabi to promote and create opportunities for new markets for Cambodian rice.

The Minister expressed her strong belief that there will be more orders and exports and requested the relevant ministries, institutions and partners to continue to work together to promote and develop the rice sector and the reputation of Cambodian rice on the international stage.
