Kep Authorities Seize a Snail Fishing Boat and Arrest Three

PHNOM PENH: Authorities of the Kep Fisheries Administration arrested three suspects on a fishing boat who used illegal equipment to harvest snails about five kilometers west of Koh Tonsay. The arrest happened at 11:15 am on January 11, 2024 in Kep’s Prey Thom District.

The Kep Fisheries Administration said that in addition to confiscating the fishing boat and arresting the suspects, authorities also seized other evidence including an SUZU93 engine.

The fisheries authority is preparing a case for legal proceedings.

According to a report issued on January 9, the fisheries administration addressed 3,054 cases of illegal fishing, an increase of 276 cases from 2022.
