World-Class Economist to Educate Cambodian Officials on Sustainable Development

PHNOM PENH: President of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University, Jeffrey Sachs, will share his ideas and experiences involving sustainable development and help Cambodia with its goals.

On January 10, world-renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace to discuss sustainable energy development and building a green economy. The professor thanked the PM for taking the time to meet with him and his wife following their first meeting in September 2023, when the PM was in New York City for the UN General Assembly.

Professor Sachs will be the guest speaker at the seminar on "Climate Resilience and Energy Transformation " organized by the Council of Ministers on the morning of January 11, with about 400 senior Cambodian officials and professional in attendance.

In response, the PM warmly welcomed the professor and his wife and thanked them for their participation as guest speakers at the seminar. He said he hoped that senior Cambodian officials and professional officers will have the opportunity to learn more and discuss directly with the professor.

The PM wished Professor Sachs and his wife a successful and fruitful visit to Cambodia and a safe return home.
