PM: The Royal Government Will Continue to Develop Infrastructure to Attract Investors

Tokyo, Japan: Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia reaffirmed the commitment of the Royal Government of Cambodia's seventh mandate to the development of critical infrastructure, including highways, railways, and ports. These efforts aim to create a conducive and appealing environment for investors considering Cambodia as their investment destination.

The Prime Minister made this announcement during a meeting with Mr. Okada Motoya, CEO of AEON MALL, on the morning of December 19, 2023.

Mr. Okada Motoya took the opportunity to brief Prime Minister Hun Manet on the progress of AEON MALL's business activities in Cambodia and its plans for further investment in the country.

During the meeting, the President of AEON MALL also highlighted the company's engagement in the field of education, where it has contributed by constructing primary schools in various provinces and providing scholarships to Cambodian students, thereby expanding higher education opportunities.

Expressing gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia, the President noted that the government has created favorable conditions for the smooth operation of AEON MALL's business in the country.

In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet extended a warm welcome to companies already invested in Cambodia and those planning to expand their investments in the country. He conveyed appreciation to AEON MALL for its commitment to nurturing Cambodian human resources through scholarship programs and the construction of local schools. This commitment aligns with the historical emphasis of former Prime Minister Hun Sen on building a strong education system in Cambodia, with a focus on providing educational opportunities for all children across the nation.

Furthermore, the Prime Minister underlined the Royal Government's dedication to strengthening education, vocational training, and technical skills development, particularly for youth from disadvantaged families. This commitment aims to benefit approximately 1.5 million individuals throughout the country.

Both sides acknowledged the importance of maintaining a business-friendly and investment-conducive environment in Cambodia. The government has introduced new policies, implementation mechanisms, and legal frameworks while developing vital connectivity and logistics infrastructure, including expressways, railways, and ports. These efforts are designed to enhance the attractiveness of Cambodia as a destination for foreign investors.

The meeting served as a platform to reinforce Cambodia's commitment to sustainable development and the promotion of investment opportunities while nurturing the country's human capital for a brighter future.
