Prime Minister of Cambodia Seeks to Attract Japanese Investors During ASEAN-Japan Summit

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Manet of Cambodia embarked on a mission to Japan to participate in the Commemorative Summit for the 50th ASEAN-Japan, which marked the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation. During his visit, the Prime Minister aimed to engage with numerous Japanese investors with the goal of attracting more investment to Cambodia.

On December 16, 2023, the Prime Minister held meetings with representatives from prominent Japanese companies, including Yazaki, Sumitomo, Pharma Foods International, and Ehime Package. Additionally, on the morning of December 18, he dedicated time to meet with representatives from Kojima Company.

During these meetings, the companies expressed their gratitude to the Royal Government of Cambodia for consistently creating favorable conditions for their business operations. They emphasized that this support significantly bolsters investor confidence and encourages further investment expansion. In response, Prime Minister Hun Manet conveyed his appreciation to the companies for choosing to invest in Cambodia, expressing high regard for their plans to expand their investments, resulting in improved business performance and a deepening trust in Cambodia.

The companies also indicated their intentions to expand investments in Cambodia, particularly within the industrial and agricultural sectors.

During a meeting with Cambodians residing in Japan on Saturday, December 16, 2023, Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined the purpose of his visit to Japan, which was to enhance relations with Japan and strengthen economic ties between Cambodia and Japan.

As the Prime Minister, he emphasized the importance of personally promoting the Royal Government's commitment to assist investors in their growth endeavors and to attract them to invest in Cambodia, ultimately leading to job creation.

Prime Minister Hun Manet is scheduled to hold direct meetings with 11 Japanese companies and will participate indirectly in a forum attended by over 500 companies in Tokyo, Japan.
