KANDAL: A giant Mekong catfish weighing 115 kg (254 lbs) was caught and released by villagers in the Kampong Luong floating village along the Tonle Sap Lake.
Mr. Muth Savoeun caught the endangered fish on December 14, when it measured 2.2 meters (7.2 feet) long and weighed 115 kg. The Fisheries Administration commended Muth Savoeun for releasing the fish and considers him a good example for the care, protection and conservation of endangered species.
The Fisheries Administration called on fishermen to take care of and protect endangered species to preserve the rich presence of these species for future generations.
