Men Sam An: Angkor Festival Encourages Gratitude to the Ancestors

SIEM REAP: On the fourth night of the Angkor Memorial Festival, Advisor to the King Men Sam An spoke on the Elephant Terrace of Angkor Thom to elaborate on the importance of preserving and celebrating Khmer culture.

Speaking on December 14, she said that the 10-day festival at Angkor was to promote, cultivate and encourage Cambodian people to love their culture and civilization for a stronger national identity.

She said that the event also shows national pride and the power of culture and ancient history to further promote the cultural and tourism potential of Cambodia to the international stage as the Kingdom of Wonder.

Men Sam An said that another important mission is to remind the people of Cambodia, now and in the future, to preserve and protect the national culture and civilization, especially the temples and archeological sites. She said that remembering their heritage is a show of gratitude to the ancestors who worked hard to build and maintain the sites by dedicating their minds and bodies to the project of building and maintaining cultural heritage.

The Fourth Memorial Night 2023 had a rich variety of artistic performances, including classical dance, Yike theater, mixed modern theater, luxurious Khmer costumes, and modern contemporary concerts by artists from the Ministry of Culture and famous Cambodian singers, actors and models.
