Vietnamese Electric Taxis May Be Coming to Cambodia

HANOI: During a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and the CEO of Vietnam’s Vingroup, plans were announced for the conglomerate’s subsidiary Vinfast Auto Company to invest in Cambodia's electric taxi industry in the first quarter of 2024.

Vingroup plans to launch 2,500 electric taxis in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville.

The Prime Minister welcomed and highly appreciated Vingroup's investment, saying that the use of clean energy contributes to the protection and preservation of the environment.

He also encouraged companies to invest in the production of components and auto parts in Cambodia for use in the car production chain in Vietnam.
