INTERNATIONAL: The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Embassy of Japan in Cambodia are pleased to inform the national and international media that the Government of Japan has decided a new assistance project which is equivalent to 300,000.00 USD for restoration work as well as human resource development of Sambor Prei Kuk Archeological Site, namely, “Human Resources Development Project in Conservation and Restoration for Sambor Prei Kuk Archeological Site”.

The Government of Japan has supported conservation and restoration activities of Sambor Prei Kuk Archeological Site, primarily through the Counterpart Fund scheme with total support to date amounting to 638,967.00 USD. Specifically, the Government of Japan supported the procurement of materials and equipment for use on the restoration work for four years from 2009 to 2012. From 2020 to 2024, we have been contributing to construct the training facility and procurement of restoration materials and equipment for Sambor Prei Kuk Archaeological site. Through these project and the new assistance project, we are confident that it will enable Cambodian students and young professionals to learn advanced, professional skills and gain knowledge through capacity building programs and on - the – job training.

We hope that this new support will contribute to the smooth and effective implementation of the conservation and restoration work of Sambor Prei Kuk Archeological Site.
