BREAKING NEWS: CPP Elects Nearly 500 New Central Committee Members

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian People's Party (CPP) elected 496 additional members to its Central Committee on December 9.

The additional members brings the total to 1,312 Central Committee members

Saturday night, 3,125 members of the CPP General Assembly voted on the 496 new members, with 96% of them, or 3,007, voting in favor.

The CPP says that Central Committee members are assessed on their honesty, a sense of duty to protect and sacrifice for the party, the nation and the people. Candidates must be able to contribute to the development of the party's policies and understand its views, positions, and political methods. They must also have the ability to successfully implement the party's policies, and decisions and have a spirit of respect for the discipline and organization that maintains party unity,

The election was held during the CPP’s General Assembly with the participation of 739 Central Committee members.
