PHNOM PENH: On the morning of December 7, Prime Minister Hun Manet met with President of Beijing Urban Construction Group (BUCG) Li Daosong at the Peace Palace.

During the meeting, the BUCG President informed the PM about some of the company's investment projects related to water and wastewater treatment in various provinces and cities throughout Cambodia, including Battambang, Siem Reap, Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Sihanoukville and the city of Serey Sophorn.

He said that the company is studying the feasibility of building a water treatment system in the eastern and upper western parts of the Mekong River. He added that his company would like to establish a training institute in the field of water treatment and other sectors.

The BUCG President also informed the Prime Minister that the company will bring new technologies to Cambodia to implement its projects and contribute to the development in accordance with the first phase of the government’s Pentagon Strategy.

In response, the Prime Minister welcomed the BUCG delegation and remarked on 65 years of Cambodia-China diplomatic relations, with the next year being designated as the Year of Friendship between the two countries.

He praised BUCG's contribution to Cambodia's development process, especially in the areas of public infrastructure and public health through various investment projects in water treatment and pollution. He thanked them for cooperating with the Hun Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport in training human resources in key areas, including: wastewater treatment and drainage, roads, bridges and the construction of an underground rail system in the city.

He supported the project to establish a training institute for water treatment and urged the company to continue to bring new technologies to support environmental protection and public health in Cambodia.

He also encouraged the company to look into the possibility of expanding investment in other sectors, such as physical infrastructure.
