Battambang Organizes Food Fair to Celebrate Battambang as a UNESCO Creative City

BATTAMBANG: The Battambang Administration will organize the 2023 Global Food Fair and New Year Celebration to celebrate the city’s inscription as a UNESCO Creative City Network (UCCN) for Gastronomy.

According to the Battambang Department of Tourism, a food fair will be held for three days in conjunction with the Global New Year on December 29-31. The event will have many special events such as a Khmer food village, exhibitions, a Battambang food fair, art performances, concerts and fireworks.

The Battambang Department of Tourism has also confirmed that the public and vendors can contact the department for more information. It said that participation in the food fair will be free of charge.

On October 31, Battambang became the first Cambodian city to make the UCCN list due to its exceptional gastronomic culture. UNESCO says the inscription will not only demonstrate Battambang’s unique cuisine, but that it will also help develop Cambodia’s food sector in regional and cultural exchanges.
