MoH Urged Frontliners to Grab Booster Shot Opportunity

Phnom Penh: Regardless if it’s a little early or late after the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr. Or Vandine has urged frontline workers to make sure in getting the booster shot. She said that it should not be a problem if the six to eight months interval from the first dose will not be followed. She emphasized that as long as the Royal Government can provide the booster shots, then frontliners should grab the opportunity, especially during this time that Cambodia continues to record Delta variant of Covid-19 cases.

Dr. Vandine has highlighted that it is important for the frontline workers battling the Covid-19 to get more protection against the virus. She said that the Sinovac and the Sinopharm have antibodies, but the AstraZeneca booster shot will push the efficacy of the antibodies more effective. She has added that with the Delta variant which just emerged in the kingdom from the migrant workers crossing the Cambodian-Thailand border, the booster shot is vital. Thailand has been struggling to fight the surge of the Covid-19 Delta variant.

She has stressed, “If your vaccination is delayed for six months, four months, five months, and so on, in my personal opinion, it does not matter. You can get the vaccine, but you have to decide for yourself.” She says the important thing is to increase the antibodies against Covid-19 while the Delta variant is raging.”
