India Promises to Encourage Tourists and Investment to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: During a meeting with National Assembly President Khuon Sodary on November 7, Indian Ambassador Devyani Khobragade pledged continued support in developing Cambodia’s diplomatic capacity, tourism, and investment to the Kingdom.

The two dignitaries met on November 7, where the Indian Ambassador said that her country would help build the capacity of the Cambodian National Assembly and particularly women parliamentarians. She emphasized that India will continue to support the development of Cambodia by encouraging more Indian tourists and investors to come to the Kingdom. She noted that Cambodia’s temples are a draw for Indians as they display a shared cultural heritage.

Khuon Sodary noted that diplomatic relations between Cambodia and India remain strong and have brought growth in all areas to the great benefit of both countries and their people. She highlighted the achievements their bilateral relations in economy, trade, investment, culture, education, defense and people-to-people contacts.

The President of the National Assembly also expressed her excitement at the outcome of the meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and the Indian Ambassador in early October, after which it was announced that direct flights between Cambodia and India would be coming soon.
