Third Fukushima Nuclear Wastewater Discharge Begins

INTERNATIONAL: Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO), the operator of the nuclear power plant, has officially confirmed the initiation of the latest phase of wastewater discharge into the sea. This follows two prior discharges that occurred from August 24 to September 11 and from October 5 to 23.

The ongoing phase of discharge is scheduled to continue until November 20, with a daily plan to drain approximately 460 tons of wastewater. By the time this process is completed in March 2024, a total of 31,200 tons of nuclear power plant wastewater will have been released into the Pacific Ocean.
