Over 130,000 High School Seniors to Take Diploma Exam Next Week

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports scheduled High School Diploma exams for November 6-7. Minister of Education Hang Chuon Naron, confirmed that 137,412 candidates, including 73,278 females, 12 deaf and six blind students, will be taking their exams this year. Of those, 41,379 candidates will test in science and 96,033 candidates will test for social sciences.

At a press conference on October 27, Minister Hang Chuon Naron said that the Ministry will post the list of candidates in the capital and provinces twice: first on October 30 for candidates to check and find the names in the examination centers and second on November 5 for students can review and confirm the examination center, room number and table number.

According to the Minister of Education, the results of the exam will be announced on November 28, for Phnom Penh and Kandal, and other provinces will be announced on November 29, 2023.

Hang Chuon Naron claimed that this year's diploma exam, like previous years' exam, will be conducted in accordance with the principles of law, justice, transparency and results acceptance, saying “Those who study will pass.”

During last year’s exams 128,135 candidates, including 68,771 females, completed the test. Of those, 72.33% of the students, (90,950) passed the exam with 1,049 getting A’s; 7,232 with B’s; 19,053 with C’s; 31,166 with D’s and 32,450 with E’s.

Those who do not pass the exam will still be able to attend university, but will only be allowed to pursue an Associate’s Degree.
