Ministry Warns of Flood Risk as Country Receives More Heavy Rain through Saturday

PHNOM PENH: Heavy rains have hit Cambodia hard this week, resulting in flooding across the country. According to an announcement from the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology on October 24, the Kingdom can expect even more rain, thunderstorms and heavy winds in the coming days.

The Ministry said that Cambodia will be affected by a low pressure system that extends from central Thailand to the South China Sea from October 24-28. "During this period, the southwest monsoon increased its force over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand. Winds from the south bring moisture from the Gulf of Thailand to the coast, while winds from the east and southeast bring moisture from the South China Sea to Cambodia," the Ministry said.

The Ministry of Water Resources advises people to be aware of the potential of flooding and remain vigilant.
