ATscale Cambodia Supports Ministry of Health for Rehabilitation Services and Prosthetics

PHNOM PENH: The Minister of Health welcomed and thanked the ATscale Global Partnership for organizing a project to support the Ministry of Health in providing rehabilitation services and prosthetics to help people with disabilities live a healthy, productive and independent life so that they can participate in education, training, careers and daily life activities on a regular basis.

Minister of Health Chheang Ra met with the ATscale Project Team in Cambodia, led by Executive Director Pascal Jeroen Bijleveld on October 23 at the Ministry of Health.

He promised that his ministry will cooperate to transfer rehabilitation services, prosthetics, and hearing aids to those that need them. ATscale said they will coordinate with all stakeholders in the transfer of functions, duties, and relevant legal documents and help plan both short-term and long-term collaboration with the relevant departments of the Ministry of Health. The Health Minister said he will expand additional health services to support persons with disabilities and reduce their burden and promote primary health care.

Pascal Jeroen Bijleveld said that the project was organized after several consultations with the inter-ministerial technical working group and was scheduled to be inaugurated soon and invited the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation to co-chair the event.

He added that the ATscale project would be implemented by three organizations: the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), Humanity and Inclusion (HI) and the Cambodia Disabled People’s Organization (CDPO), in coordination and collaboration with development partners.
