More than 2,000 Families Affected by Floods in Dangkor District Receive Donations from the Cambodian Red Cross

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian Red Cross delivered humanitarian aid for over 2,000 families in Phnom Penh’s southwestern district of Dangkor on the morning of October 22.

Each family was given 25 kg of rice, one case of noodles, 10 cans of fish and 1 kit comprised of a mosquito net, blanket, sarong, and krama. They were also given six bottles of fish sauce, one case of drinking water and 30,000 Riels (about $7.27).

Deputy Secretary General of the Cambodian Red Cross, Men Neary Sopheak and Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng held donation ceremonies at two pagodas in the area, where they also donated relief aid packages to the monks at the Kampong Kdol and Prek Tloeng pagodas.

In total, 2,101 families were affected by heavy flooding over the weekend. This time last year, an estimated 85,482 households in 14 provinces had been reported to be affected by floods, with houses, infrastructure (roads, schools, health centres) and agricultural land inundated.
