Cambodian Products to Hit the Shelves on Alibaba

BEIJING: Cambodian vendors will now be able to use China’s largest online shopping retailer to sell their products. On October 17, Alibaba, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Cambodian Ministry of Commerce to bring Cambodian products to its website for sale in China and ASEAN markets. Cambodian Prime Minister is optimistic that Cambodian entrepreneurs will use the opportunity to take advantage of the international market.

Alibaba Public Affairs Director Wen Jia thanking Cambodia for its continued cooperation with the company, which started under former Prime Minister Hun Sen. She pointed out that the company also provides a digital platform for Chinese citizens to apply for Cambodian visas, which has seen a significant increase in interest and applications.

Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed the Alibaba partnership and is hopeful about the potential it will bring to Cambodian retailers.

Alibaba currently has a total of about 1.3 billion customers worldwide, and the company already sells Cambodian products on its e-commerce platform, such as rice and lognan. Alibaba is designed for B2B (business to business) transactions, selling mostly in bulk. Meanwhile, its subsidiary AliExpress focuses on selling products to individuals.
