Brazil Plans to Open Embassy in Cambodia in 2024

PHNOM PENH: Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira congratulated Prime Minister Hun Manet on his rise to power and announced that his country plans to open a permanent embassy in Cambodia in 2024. He also invited the PM to visit Brazil in the near future.

Mauro Vieira met with the Prime Minister on Wednesday morning, October 11, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh and said that Brazil intends to expand cooperation with Cambodia, especially in the fields of trade, education, health and cultural exchange between the two countries.

He congratulated Hun Manet on his appointment as Prime Minister and welcomed the opening of the Cambodian Embassy in Brazil, saying that Brazil also plans to open its Embassy in Phnom Penh in 2024 for the 30th anniversary of Cambodia-Brazil diplomatic relations. He invited the Prime Minister to visit Brazil anytime convenient for him.

Prime Minister Hun Manet gladly accepted the invitation and expressed his intention to invite the President of Brazil to visit Cambodia in 2024, to celebrate 30 years of diplomatic ties along with the new embassy.

The Prime Minister said he hopes that the relationship between Cambodia and Brazil will be further strengthened under Cambodia’s new administration and stressed that foreign policy between the two countries will remain the same. He agreed to expand cooperation in tourism, agriculture, and people-to-people contacts, while discussing a number of issues of common interest.
