Lone Bear Goes Shopping in LA

INTERNATIONAL: It’s not every day you see a bear in your local supermarket, but we have to be thankful that Los Angeles resident David Balen had the presence of mind to whip out his phone to capture an incident on camera.

The bear was filmed sauntering through the aisles at Ralphs supermarket in the LA suburb of Porter Ranch. He was probably looking for those bear necessities, before staff chased him towards the entrance, where he was shot with a tranquiliser dart.

The Los Angeles Police Department says it received numerous reports of bear sightings that day, although it was only this one who thought he might do some browsing. The US Fish and Wildlife Service says the little shopper was safely relocated back to his natural habitat.
