Ministry of Labor and Cambodian Business Association Agree to Better Work Training

PHNOM PENH: A delegation of the Federation of Employers and the Cambodian Business Association led by Oknha Sok Piseth met with the Minister of Labor and Vocational Training, Heng Sour on October 4 at the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training.

During the meeting, the two sides agreed to strengthen the technical training of employees in factories in order to increase productivity and create better working conditions. The two sides also agreed to promote cooperation and mutual support for investment in better work environments as well as better industrial relations in factories.

The minister urged the private sector to continue to strengthen the practice of training apprentices and interns to integrate theory with direct skills in order to respond more effectively to the needs of a competitive market.

At the same time, the minister urged the private sector to continue to fully implement its social security obligations in the areas of workers compensation, health care and pensions.

In 2023, the Royal Government of Cambodia plans to train 1.5 million young people from poor and vulnerable families, with the state providing subsidies to give them the opportunity to gain skills to work or create their own businesses, thereby meeting the needs of the skilled workforce for new investments in Cambodia.
