PM Aims for "One Strategy, One Plan, One Voice” on Exports

TAKEO: Prime Minister Hun Manet announced his strategy of “one strategy, one plan, one voice" to create unity in export goals between the public and private sectors. "In the past, even though we had a community, we competed with each other. When we competed with each other, we did not look at our neighbors-their community is very big, they are together. So we have to be together. We are small but we can unite," he said.

With the goal of increasing Cambodian exports, the strategy is to have the government and the private sector work together to set goals to export Cambodian products internationally.

During the same speech on the morning of September 19, he ordered the Ministry of Mines and Energy to look into the possibility of lowering the price of electricity to agro-industrial enterprises. The PM recently signed deals with China on agricultural exports and said that lowering tariffs would enable businesses to increase their production and recruit more workers.

"They need to use a lot [of electricity], so look at the possibility [of lowering tariffs so] that they can expand further," he said. Minister of Mines and Energy, Keo Rattanak, immediately confirmed to the PM that over 2,100 businesses will benefit from this consideration.
