PHNOM PENH: Phnom Penh Khuong Sreng announced the government’s plans to build a bridge from Chak Angrae Leu to Prek Pra.
During a ceremony at the newly built Koh Pich-Koh Norea bridge on September 13, the governor said that the bridge is in a preliminary study phase under the cooperation of multiple ministries.
"We will continue to work through the Ministry of Public Works and Transport from the sixth mandate [previous administration], to build another bridge 50 meters long from Prek Pra to the Choeung Ek Development Zone ,” he said. He said that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport is working with foreign companies and the Ministry of Economy and Finance to assess the cost of building the bridge.
Plans for the project were initially announced by the former Prime Minister Hun Sen at the inauguration ceremony of the Russey Keo bridge on the morning of May 31, where he noted the government’s plans to build two more bridges across the river including the Cambodia-South Korea Friendship Bridge and a bridge connecting the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway, which is currently under construction.
