Former PM Meets with CCP Member to Solidify Cambodia-China Relations

PHNOM PENH: President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), Hun Sen, met Head of the International Liaison Department for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Liu Jianchao, at CPP headquarters on the morning of September 4.

On the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations and Cambodia-China Friendship, the two sides discussed action plans to further promote multifaceted cooperation, including political relations, diplomacy, trade expansion, investment facilitation, promoting tourism, education, infrastructure development and security cooperation.

Liu Jianchao reaffirmed China's unwavering commitment to respecting Cambodia's sovereignty and relayed the full support of President Xi Jinping to the new CPP-led government and its development path.

The CPP reaffirmed its strong commitment to continue to strengthen and expand cooperation to build a high-quality and high-standard Cambodian-Chinese community of shared destiny, as well as to enhance their Diamond Cooperation in the mutual interest of party, country and the people.

CPP President Hun Sen thanked China for its support and development assistance, including the provision of the Covid-19 vaccine and scholarships, which have made significant contributions to Cambodia's socio-economic development and infrastructure to strengthen nation building and contribute to poverty reduction.

Both sides expressed satisfaction over the strong and dynamic momentum of their partnership and committed to enhancing relations, especially public and youth organizations. They specifically committed to collaborating on improving the functions of the "Youth House for Cambodia-China Friendship" which was launched on January 11, 2023.
