China Thanks New Government for Continuing Friendly Diplomacy

PHNOM PENH: Head of the International Liaison Department for the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Liu Jianchao, expressed his deep gratitude for Cambodia’s continued friendly diplomacy to China under the government of Prime Minister Hun Manet. He noted the two countries’ strong will to achieve a common vision in the new era, where they will remain loyal friends and brothers who share their issues.

Speaking at a meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace on September 3, Liu Jianchao thanked Cambodia’s new leader and called him a young politician, full of ability, long-term vision and respectable political conscience.

He expressed his admiration for the PM’s father, former Prime Minister Hun Sen, who remains President of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) and Chairman of the King's Personal Advisory Council, as a true strategist, revolutionary, and military leader who is considered a worthy political teacher to be respected by the Chinese leadership.

Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that Cambodia's development is inseparable from the support of the Chinese government its people, especially in regards to the successful management of Covid-19. He pledged the CPP’s continued support of Chinese policy and committed to promoting closer cooperation between the youths of the two countries in training programs and a youth housing project, which will be expanded upon in an upcoming Memorandum of Understanding.

The expressed his appreciation for the meeting and wished Liu Jianchao success in this visit and wished him a safe journey home.
