National Assembly Replaces 29 Resigned MPs

PHNOM PENH: The National Assembly recognized 29 new members of parliament on the morning of August 31 who are replacing those that resigned their position to form the new administration which took power on August 22.

The decision was made during the first session of the new legislature which was attended by 87 out of 125 National Assembly members. National Assembly President Khuon Sodary, read out a declaration officially recognizing the new members of the National Assembly.

In this morning's session, the National Assembly also appointed Youk Ngoy as a member of the Constitutional Council to replace the late Sam Prohmnea. The Constitutional Council is comprised of nine members. Three each are selected by the King, National Assembly and Supreme Council of the King.
