Police Arrest Two More Suspects Involved in Siem Reap Prisoner Escape

SIEM REAP: Police in Siem Reap arrested two more Cambodians in connection to the unprecedented prisoner escape attempt on August 17, bringing the total up to 13 arrested suspects.

Deputy Commissioner for the Siem Reap Police, Lt. Col. Noun Sak Chamroeunrith, confirmed that on August 23, police brought in 38-year-old Prak Chamroeun and 28-year-old Khan Sokha for questioning.

After interrogation, Khan Sokha confessed that on August 17, he participated in the operation to free convicted drug lord Chen Hsin Han while he was on a supervised visit to a dental clinic in Siem Reap. He said that his uncle-in-law, a Chinese national by the name of Sim Soem, lent him a motorcycle and paid him $500 to pick up some of the criminals, promising an additional $1,000 upon his return.

Police confiscated two white Honda Click motorcycles with fake license plates in connection to the crime. They are preparing the case to send the suspects to court on charges of aiding and abetting the prisoner escape.
