Sihanoukville Police Arrest Three after Gunfire between Racing Cars

SIHANOUKVILLE: Three suspects were arrested in Sihanoukville on August 22 after shots fired between two cars ended in a police chase. Preah Sihanouk Police said that the suspects had been arrested within three hours of the initial gunfire and that they had confiscated evidence in the case.

According to eyewitnesses, around 9 am, several luxury cars were spotted racing along Independence Road when at the Two Lions Roundabout, occupants in a Toyota Alphard pulled out a handgun and fired at a Jeep. Luckily no one was hit.

Upon receiving this information, the Sihanoukville Police, in cooperation with the District Inspector, began a high-speed chase after the car, which crashed into the Ou Chamnar Bridge. The suspect then fled on foot along National Road 4 and was caught in a valley near the Otres area.

The police went on to arrest two more people, at a hotel near Ochheuteal Beach at noon. The police are still on the lookout for additional suspects who fled the scene. Police have not yet confirmed the identities of the suspects or their origins.
