PM Hun Manet Looks Forward To Meeting Burmese Boxing King Later This Year

PHNOM PENH: Future Prime Minister Hun Manet said he was looking forward to meeting Lethwei boxer Dave Leduc when he visits Cambodia later this year. Leduc announced he would be retiring from martial arts two days ago on social media, and that his final match would be in the Kun Khmer style at the invitation of Cambodia.

"Thank you for loving Cambodia," said Dr. Hun Manet, in response to a Facebook post Leduc had made on August 14, congratulating Hun Manet as the new prime minister of Cambodia. Leduc said that although he is a Canadian known as a Burmese Lethwei champion, he would respect Cambodia by fighting in its native Kun Khmer style.

"Even though I am a foreigner, I love and respect Cambodia, which is why I agreed to compete under traditional Khmer martial arts because I know the true history," Dave wrote.

Leduc also mentioned his intention to meet with Prime Minister Hun Manet.
