BREAKING NEWS: Six-Storey Under-Construction Building Collapses, Injures a Woman

Banteay Meanchey: A woman was injured after a six-storey guesthouse being constructed has collapsed on Saturday at Srah Sour, O'Chrov Village, Sangkat Poipet, Poipet City, Banteay Meanchey Province. The injured person was identified as Ny Srey Nich, 19, a construction worker of the building constructed. Banteay Meanchey police investigators said that the lack of support in the building’s platform has resulted to this accident. It did not manage to hold the weight of the heavy cement on the upper floor causing it to collapse.

Banteay Meanchey police investigators are coordinating with the Department of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction and Cadastral Affairs to check the area and investigate the owner of the guesthouse being constructed. The owner was identified as Yim Kim Eang. Deputy Inspector in charge of Poipet City Criminal Division Colonel Prum Piseth says that the injured worker was sent to the Cambodia-Japan Friendship Hospital in Mongkol Borei for treatment. The building’s construction has been ordered for a temporary suspension while the investigation is ongoing.
