Cambodia Records Nearly 300,000 Travelers 2nd Week of July

PHNOM PENH: According to the report from the Ministry of Tourism on July 19, nearly 300,000 people were travelling through Cambodia from July 10-16. Of the 296,005, travelers recorded, 259,441 were Cambodian nationals and 36,564 were international tourists.

The main tourist destinations included Battambang, Kampot, Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Kampong Speu, Pursat and Kep, while Sihanoukville had the most tourists with 66,557 reported.

According to the report, the number of tourists increased by 3.15% compared to the previous week, with domestic visitors increasing by 3.4% and international visitors by 1.36%.

The Department of Tourism observed that domestic tourism numbers tend to slump around election time because government officials, leaders and members of the Cambodian People's Party are busy campaigning in Phnom Penh. However, the flow of international tourists visiting the country is still increasing as the national election is approaching.
