CIA First Student Places 1st in International Math Competition

PHNOM PENH: A ninth-grader at Phnom Penh’s CIA FIRST International School, Kea Chhorita, won the first prize and a gold medal at the international Caribou Mathematics Contest held online this year.

Over 80,000 students participate in the global math competition, which is carried out through exams. Of the 2,231 Cambodian candidates who participated, Kea Chhorita scored the highest while participating in the Grade 7/8 division.

According to a press release from CIA FIRST International School, the competition is designed to provide opportunities to students from public and private schools from around the world to measure their abilities and learn, in addition to building on the success of countries around the world.

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has organized the Cambodian side of the competition for the fourth time and this is the second time that CIA First International students have participated.

Dr. Chanrath, President of the New Generation Pedagogical Research Center and Representative of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, said that this year’s competition was held with a total of more than 80,000 students from 82 countries around the world.

The management team of CIA First International School is proud of their students and congratulated the outstanding young woman, Kea Chhorita, who brought world-class championship to herself, her family, her school and society.

The school encourages other students to study hard so they can participate in competitions both nationally and internationally.

Gen. Hun Manet also congratulated Kea Chhorita on her win at the Caribou Mathematics Contest 2023.
