Stung Treng Province Prohibits Use of Drones during Election Season

STUNG TRENG: The Stung Treng Provincial Administration issued a notice banning the use of drones in Stung Treng province during the campaign season and the election that follows.

The administration announced the ban on July 11, on behalf of the Provincial Permanent Security Campaign Command for the 7th National Assembly Election 2023, to ensure respect for the privacy of the people and to maintain security, safety and public order during the campaign season and the election on July 23. The statement noted that all drones able to take pictures and capture other information on the geography of Stung Treng province are strictly prohibited.

The statement clarified that necessary exemptions could be made only with prior written permission of the Stung Treng Provincial Administration.

Drones for agricultural use, such as spraying pesticides or fertilizers on crops, can be used from 7 am to 2 pm. Those launching drones outside of this time frame will held legally responsible.

The Stung Treng Provincial Administration called on all members of the public to implement the notice with a high sense of responsibility.
