Cambodia and Facebook Work Together To Develop the Digital Economy

PHNOM PENH: Fifty select students graduated from an 8-week course on “Digital Marketing on Social Media for Cambodia’s Enterprises” today. The event was co-organized by the Digital Economy and Business Committee (DEBC), the Techo Startup Center (TSC) and Facebook’s parent company META, who all sent representatives to congratulate the accomplishments of the program and its first batch of graduates.

General Secretariat of DEBC, Chheang Vann Monin, said that the training program achieved excellent results in dispensing important knowledge, ideas, innovations and practical experience from digital marketing experts, which is an important contribution to the development of Cambodia’s digital economy.

"What is gained from this training will benefit the students in carrying out business operations, as well as make a significant contribution to the development of the economy and digital business in Cambodia," he said.

The “Digital Marketing on Social Media for Cambodia’s Enterprises” course received 600 applicants, but after thorough screening, only 50 applicants were invited to attend. The students received eight weeks of both in-person and online training and received valuable insights from industry professionals.

Meta Public Policy Manager Heng Pheakdey highlighted the importance of enhancing digital skills and knowledge for Cambodian enterprises in the digital age. He said he will continue to provide guidance to the graduates and encouraged them to continue to develop their digital marketing skills and knowledge through other training courses so that they can expand and operate their business better.

At the ceremony, participants and trainers shared their experiences and opinions on this first iteration of the training program. A presentation was given to show the results of the program. Applicants who wish to apply for the second course were given information on how to apply, a process which will begin on July 1.
