Cambodia Wheelchair Basketball Federation Celebrates Success at the 12th ASEAN Para Games

Phnom Penh, June 12, 2023 – The Cambodian Wheelchair Basketball Federation (CWBF) organized a congratulatory ceremony to proudly announce and celebrate the remarkable achievements of the Cambodian wheelchair basketball teams at the 12th ASEAN Para Games.

The event took place at the National Centre of Disabled Persons and was presided over by Senior Minister Ly Thuch, President of CWBF, and Her Highness Princess Sisowath Kanthireth, Honorary President of CWBF. Representatives from the Embassy of Japan, Prince Foundation, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and distinguished guests from the private sector also attended the event. The athletes received appreciation gifts as recognition of their efforts.

The Cambodian wheelchair basketball team showcased exceptional skills, teamwork, and determination in the 12th ASEAN Para Games. The women’s wheelchair basketball team won the gold medal in the 3x3 event and also secured the silver medal in the 5x5 event, demonstrating unwavering resilience and skill.

The success of the Cambodian wheelchair basketball teams is a celebration of their outstanding achievements and a testament to their commitment to inclusivity and accessibility in sports. Under the leadership of Senior Minister Ly Thuch and H.H. Princess Sisowath Kanthireth, and with contributions from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and Prince Foundation, led by philanthropist Neak Oknha Chen Zhi, the wheelchair basketball teams have achieved remarkable milestones.
