DPM Sar Kheng Inaugurates Provincial Road 312 Rehabilitation Project

PREY VENG: Construction on Provincial Road No. 312 in Samrong-Kokor on the Cambodia-Vietnam border was inaugurated on the morning of June 9, under the leadership of Minister of Interior DPM Sar Kheng.

The rehabilitated road will stretch over 28 km in the Preah Sdach District in Prey Veng province and is part of the project to upgrade the road network under the Asian Development Bank (ADB) concessional loan.

Minister of Public Works and Transport, Sun Chanthol, confirmed that the construction of Provincial Road No. 312 began in 2011 with a loan from Vietnam, but that the road has since been damaged due to heavy transportation use and has had to be repaired several times.

Chanthol confirmed that the road rehabilitation project will better support transportation to markets in the province and beyond, in addition to facilitating travel to schools, markets and other areas in the province. The road is especially important to improving trade between Cambodia and Vietnam.

DPM Sar Kheng said that this road is estimated to cost nearly $25 million USD to upgrade and repair over 18 months and will add to the safety and access for the people of Prey Veng.
