BREAKING NEWS: PM Asks Borey Owners to Stop Confiscating Buyers' Houses

KAMPONG CHHNANG: The Prime Minister asked all Borey (gated housing community) owners to stop confiscating buyers' houses and ordered the Minister of Economy to look into the situation.

Speaking at a meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Kampong Chhnang on June 9, the PM said that the confiscations will affect the national economy. He was specifically referring to buyers who purchased via direct installment payments from the Borey, but are no longer able to make the payments due to unforeseen circumstances such as Covid-19 and the Ukraine War sanctions.

He proposed measures like restructuring the loan agreement or delaying payments. In the event that the house has already been confiscated from the buyer, he asked real estate companies to hold discussions with the buyer again.

The PM requested that Borey owners stop confiscations immediately and to send relevant data of the cases to him.

"From the moment you receive my message, please stop!" he said.

At the same time, the PM also asked the home buyers to respect their payment obligations.
