KAMPONG CHHNANG: Prime Minister Hun Sen received word that the newly elected Thai government will not be deporting Cambodian workers.

On the morning of June 8, the PM spoke to a crowd of nearly 20,000 workers in Kampong Chhnang province. He announced that he had received direct communication from the elected party and he was happy to hear that Cambodian workers would be permitted to stay in Thailand.

The PM met with over 17,000 workers at CAM TON Industrial Park in Kandal province on June 3, where he warned about the harmful economic effects a deportation policy would have not only on Cambodian workers, but on the Thai economy as well. He ordered the Ministry of Labor to closely monitor the situation.
