Cambodian Women’s Wheelchair Basketball Team Brings Home First Gold of the Games

PHNOM PENH: The Cambodian women’s wheelchair basketball team saw their hard work pay off yesterday when they won the first gold of this year’s 12th ASEAN Para Games. The team defeated Thailand 11-9 in the 3x3 category, garnering Cambodia’s first gold in this year’s event.

The opening ceremony of the 12th ASEAN Para Games will be presided over by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen today, where the audience will see a spectacular performance by a group of artists from the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts. The ASEAN Para Games will be held from June 3-9, with 11 countries sending more than 2,000 delegates to compete in 14 sports, including badminton, Judo, football, swimming, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, weightlifting, e-sports and gymnastics.
