PM Hopes Thai Politicians Will Carefully Consider New Policies

KANDAL: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen hopes that Thai politicians will think beyond the policies of their newly elected parties, who he says want to deport Cambodian workers.

Speaking to more than 17,000 workers at CAM TON Industrial Park in the Kandal province this morning, the PM said that deporting foreign workers is a danger to their own economy.

"Such policies endanger the economy not only for Cambodian and Lao workers, but also for Thai enterprises that employ workers from Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar as well," he said. "You have not even come into the office yet, but are already threatening to fire Cambodian and Lao workers…I think this policy may not have the support of Cambodia and Laos."

The Prime Minister warned Thai politicians to be careful about such decisions while ordering the Ministry of Labor to closely monitor the situation.
