Another Candlelight Party Member Joins CPP

PHNOM PENH: Former member and a parliamentary candidate of the Candlelight Party, Ung HokSreang, asked to join the Cambodian People's Party saying that the Candlelight Party is chaotic, corrupt and partisan.

He said that the CPP has a clear policy and a record of national development, so he would like to continue his political career with the largest party in Cambodia.

He said, "Under the leadership Prime Minister Hun Sen, the Cambodian People’s Party has brought peace and prosperity to the people of Cambodia. Therefore, I would like to join in politics with the Cambodian People's Party to serve the nation and bring to peace and national development to the Cambodian people.”

President of the Cambodian People's Party, Prime Minister Hun Sen, honored HokSreang’s request. "I welcome Ung HokSreang to join the CPP," he wrote on his Channel Telegram.

There has been a wave of opposition members joining the CPP leading up to the elections who cite a loss of faith in the leadership of their party.
