PM Emphasizes the Need for Peace

PHNOM PENH: Presiding over a the opening of the new Royal University of Fine Arts campus this morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen stressed the importance of peace at any cost. He emphasized that to live in peace, the people must join the peacekeeping efforts so as not to lose it and later regret it.

He said, "Everything thrives under peace, if there is no peace, we might as well just run into gunfire."

He added that peace is very difficult to find and does not happen easily; that citizens should not wait until peace is lost to know its true worth. Therefore, he said, peace must be maintained.

He went on to credit his Win-Win Policy of the late 1990’s for bringing national and territorial unity, in addition to providing opportunities in all areas, including the arts.
