Cambodia and China Strengthen Ties

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia and China agreed to continue to maintain good relations in all fields at all levels for the benefit of peace, friendship and development of the two countries, as well as to further promote cooperation and support each other on multilateral forums, both regionally and globally.

The agreement was reached during a meeting between members the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCCCP) and the Chairman of the Central Youth Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, Gen. Hun Manet on May 22.

The meeting took place in a friendly, understanding and trusting atmosphere, during which Gen. Hun Manet spoke with the Second Asia Department of the Ministry of International Relations of the CCCCP, Zhao Sithong. Together, they pledged to continue to promote solidarity, friendship and cooperation in all areas between the two countries, their people, and especially the youth.

Both sides expressed their appreciation for the steady development of relations between the two parties and noted previous cooperation in diplomacy, defense, security, economy, trade, health, education, sports, and culture. They also highlighted the Cambodia-China Friendship Youth House, which opened in Phnom Penh in January with the goal of providing a platform for cultural exchange.

The leaders finished by affirming the relationship between their countries’ ruling parties and their citizens has greatly contributed to building a shared destiny.
