Vehicle Tax to be Collected Starting June 1

PHNOM PENH: The General Department of Taxation will start collecting taxes on all means of transportation and vehicles for 2023 from June 1 to November 30, 2023.

The General Department of Taxation calls on owners of all types of vehicles to pay taxes at the provincial or district tax branches or at the ten partner commercial banks of the nearest General Department of Taxation.

Payments can also be made through the GDT Road Tax app, which is quicker and more convenient for many.

All taxable means of transport and vehicles include: tourist buses, trucks, passenger cars, tuk-tuks,water vehicles over 150 horsepower on both river and sea routes. Taxes will be based on cylinder size, year of manufacture, number of seats and load capacity.

Vehicle owners can use the GDT Road Tax mobile app to automatically calculate tax on transportation and all types of vehicles by simply selecting the type of vehicle, entering information such as type and entering the year of production, cylinder size, etc.

The General Department of Taxation requires vehicle owners to have certain documents to apply for new or updated vehicle registration, such as vehicle identification card and/or an import tax receipt (first-time registrations must include both), technical inspection certificate (for passenger cars and trucks), proof of ID, and tax registration certificate (VAT) for personal and company-owned vehicles.
