In Search for PM's Favorite Watch

Phnom Penh: The Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hun Sen, posted three photos, reminiscent of a watch he wore from his childhood until he became Cambodia's Minister of Foreign Affairs in 1979.

He said that he was still trying to find the watch he was wearing. PM Hun Sen posted on his telegram channel: "Only photos! I tried to find a watch that I wore before the war in 1970 and exchanged it with Chea Sim in 1982."

Prime Minister received the three photos from social media, reminding that in this photo there is a watch worn on the hand in this photo is the watch that he is looking for.

He said that because of this watch, he escaped from the punishment of the monks as well as helped he in the long journey to become the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cambodia in 1979.

"This watch has a long history since I was a pagoda boy. Around the end of 1969 or the early 1970s, because the monks blamed me for being late for lunch, I decided to break the piglet and save more than 5,000 riel to buy it," he said. One Titon watch about the beginning of March 1970, I traded this watch with a watch shop in Memot district for Titon brand new with a higher price of up to 8,700 riel of that time (a pound of gold costs 3,200 riel). Therefore, this watch is worth more than 2 times a pound of gold at that time. This watch helped me a lot and avoided the blame from monk for the slow food, especially serving in the army until the State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 1979-1980 and Deputy Prime Minister. Foreign Affairs 1981-1982 Before changing this watch with Chea Sim in 1982. ”

PM Hun Sen is a person who loves watches. He has many watches worth millions of dollars as well. During his chairmanship of ASEAN in 2022, he also asked a Cambodian company to produce watches for ASEAN and world leaders attending the meeting, each worth about $ 25,000.
