Cambodia surpasses its Highest Gold Medal tally

Phnom Penh: Cambodia surpasses it’s gold medal count from their previous best held from the SEA games held last year in Vietnam of 9 gold to currently 19 gold and looks like it will also surpass their medal tally of 63 also from 31st SEA Games in Vietnam.

Cambodia still on top of the medal tally with 19 gold 12 Silver and 11 bronze total 42 medals followed by Indonesia with 8 gold, 7 silver and 12 bronze, Vietnam 7 gold 11 silver 17 bronze.

With 9 days to go the host country Cambodia looks like have their best SEA Games ever. Still plenty of medals to be handed out. In the 31st SEA Games in Vietnam in 2022, the Kingdom bagged 63 medals – nine gold, 13 silver and 41 bronze.

Of the 19 gold medals, 4 were won in Kun Bokator, 4 in Vovinam, 3 in Chinlone, 2 in Jiu-Jitsu, 2 in Kun Khmer, 1 in Ouk Chaktrang (Chess), 1 in Aquathlon, 1 in Soft Tennis, and 1 in E-Sports.

With over 12,000 athletes from 11 participating countries are competing in 37 sports with 581 events – 304 for men, 229 for women and 48 mixed – at the SEA Games 2023 under the motto of “Sport: Live in Peace” from May 5 to 17.
