Cambodia’s Korean Tourism Numbers Recovering

PHNOM PENH: Cambodia received about 50,000 Korean tourists, a massive increase compared to the same period in 2022.

According to the report of the Ministry of Tourism, in the first three months of 2023, Cambodia welcomed 52,578 Korean tourists, an increase of 1115.4% compared to the same period in 2022, which indicates that the tourism situation in Cambodia is returning to normal as the country expects to receive about 80,000 Korean tourists by the end of the year.

Cambodia received 2,276,626 tourists in 2022, an increase of 1058.6% compared to 2021. Of the over two million visitors that year, 64,040 were Korean tourists. The Ministry of Tourism has sent more than ten private companies to participate in the Seoul International Travel Fair 2023, which will be held from May 4-7 in Seoul, Korea. They are meant to implement the vision strategy to promote Cambodia's tourism via the "Visit Cambodia 2023" campaign in addition to advertising Cambodia as a sports tourism destination under the slogan "Sports: Live in Peace." Cambodia is using the 2023 SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games to promote the country as a welcoming, safe, clean and green tourist destination under the slogan "Every day is a miracle," with an emphasis on both sports and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions).
